On Jordan's Stormy Banks

Okay, I am about to do something hypocritical. When some people blog or write about how their day is going, sometimes they will just post lyrics. I have never been a big fan of this. Yet I have had this song stuck in my head since this afternoon, and I really like the lyrics of this song. I think it has a positive message, and I like to sing it myself! If you want to hear a small version of it sometime, contact me. Unless I don't know you, then that's just kind of weird. Anyway, here are the lyrics to, "On Jordan's Stormy Banks." Text by Samuel Stennett.

On Jordan's stormy banks I stand,
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan's fair and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

I am bound for the promised land,
I am bound for the promised land;
Oh who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

All O'er those wide extended plains
Shines one eternal day;
There God the Son forever reigns,
And scatters night away.

I am bound for the promised land,
I am bound for the promised land;
Oh who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

No chilling winds nor poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore;
Sickness and sorrow, pain and death,
Are felt and feared no more.

I am bound for the promised land,
I am bound for the promised land;
Oh who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

When I shall reach that happy place,
I'll be forever blessed;
For I shall see my Father's face,
And in His bosom rest.
